Kinrise is an award-winning investment company (est. 2015) which is focussed on creating spaces that give people the opportunity to thrive. The company, formerly known as LJ Real Estate Advisors, is building a portfolio of iconic buildings and ventures to contribute to the rise of UK cities, through creative refurbishment, technology, and social and environmental impact initiatives.
Why the name Kinrise? In short it translates as community rising. The team are united by a shared belief that building equitable business agreements, developing strong local community relationships, serving people and being mindful of the environment is not at odds with creating a long-term, profitable business.
Samuel Lawson Johnston
Samuel has worked in UK commercial real estate for 14 years. A former equity partner at Cording Real Estate Group, and Investment Director of FORE Partnership, today Samuel is focused on investment strategy, management and creative direction at Kinrise. He is also a trustee of charity: water and St John at Hackney church, and is a non-executive director of Finlay & Co. London.
George is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and has worked in UK commercial real estate for 14 years. He started his career at Knight Frank Investment Management and then became an Investment Director of FORE Partnership. Today George is focused on investment strategy and asset management at Kinrise. He is also President of Field Lane charity, which has been helping vulnerable people since 1841.
Isabelle graduated from the University of the Arts in London with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Business, focusing her dissertation on social responsibility within the fashion industry, transparency in supply chains and millennials’ attitudes towards these issues. She joined Kinrise in 2015 and manages operations and marketing strategies such as social media channels for underlying projects and events organisation.
Christian is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and has worked in UK commercial real estate for 15 years. He started his career at Lambert Smith Hampton, followed by Knight Frank and then Danmerc (part of Cording Real Estate Group). Today Christian is focused on asset management of the property portfolio at Kinrise. Christian is passionate about conservation of buildings and as well as promoting this interest at Kinrise he is currently renovating his period family home in the Cotswolds.
Harry Lawson Johnston
Harry was a Founding Partner of LJ Partnership helping drive the firm to $15bn of assets across 8 offices globally and was previously a Managing Director of Guggenheim Partners in Geneva and London. Today he is focussed on investment strategy at Kinrise. He is on the Advisory Board of FODIS, a US based firm delivering a comprehensive suite of direct investment services for family offices, family business holding companies and business owning families. He sits on the Development Board of the Institute for Statecraft, the Advisory Council of Resurgo Ventures and is a Trustee of the Church Revitalisation Trust.
Nat Wei, Lord Wei of Shoreditch, entered the House of Lords in 2010 and is the most senior Chinese origin politician in Europe. He formerly worked at McKinsey & Co, was a member of the founding team of Teach First, and later became an advisor to Absolute Return for Kids (Ark). He has expertise in technology, connected cities and social reform. Nat serves on the advisory board of Kinrise.
